Women Speak Out

Women Speak Out booklet 2010 - 11 (PDF download)

I was co-organiser of a UK-based feminist discussion project, Women Speak Out, throughout 2010 – 11.

We met up with women in cities across the country to find out: What most concerns you? Is ‘now’ a good time to be a woman? What does feminism mean to you? in order to map the voices and views of feminists across the country at this politically significant time. It was also a way of creating feminist conversations beyond blogs and Facebook, and to highlight feminist activity outside London.

The booklet follows our journey, with accounts of the discussions we had in each city. In addition to giving readers an insight into the current nature of feminism, the booklet also aims to inspire more women to carry out similar conversations in their own cities and stimulate further thinking and action around feminism.

It was produced to coincide with the launch of Women’s History Month in the UK where copies were distributed.

Further information on the project can also be found at the blog: http://womenspeakoutuk.wordpress.com.
